MISSION
The Robert Lee Wilson Foundation was founded with a goal to make a difference in the lives of families who are struggling with food insecurity. Our team has been working hard to provide nourishing meals to those in need during the holiday season, and we are committed to continuing this work for years to come. We believe that every family deserves access to healthy and delicious food, regardless of their financial situation. By highlighting compassion, dignity, and generosity in our efforts, we hope to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
HISTORY
My granddaddy was the greatest man I’ve ever known. Born in 1919, Robert Lee Wilson, Sr. lived through many of the events I read about in history books in school. I spent many days throughout my childhood at my granddaddy’s house and his love for me was evident. As the youngest grandchild, I was spoiled regularly and he would bake me the best German Chocolate Cake! It would be so moist it would start falling apart as you cut it.

I saw my granddaddy live out his faith while studying at home, attending bible study and church services, and serving as a deacon in his local church.
He would often walk around the house singing, “I’ll let nothing separate me from His love.” I believe he held that truth until he took his final breath in 2014.

When I was younger he would always say, “People don’t have to be kind.” My granddaddy often opened his home to feed others, whether he had little or plenty to share. I saw him live with kindness each day and I find myself looking for opportunities to treat others with the level of kindness and dignity he modeled for me and our family.

This nonprofit bears his name to continue the legacy he began in me, one of his 11 grandchildren, and his 9 children. We will continue serving families with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect one nourishing meal at a time. My hope is that each individual and family will feel the love and joy that Robert Lee Wilson, Sr. so effortlessly exuded and instilled.
